SGVCC is an intensive program that helps disadvantaged and/or disengaged youth develop the motivation, self confidence, work skills, and education, e.g. attainment of high school diploma, necessary to take advantage of an opportunity to succeed in life.
WE ARE SGVCORPS
On The Job Training
At San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Support is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
Educational Services
YOUTHBUILD CHARTER SCHOOL – project-based learning accredited high school
SGVCC provides educational opportunities for students and corpsmembers to earn a High School Diploma. We nurture students’ aspirations and provide the opportunity for post-secondary education.
EarthWork Farm
EarthWorks is an edible garden managed by the SGVCC. We provide our corpsmembers and community healthy food, environmental education, and farm-related recreation while promoting local and sustainable farming.
Environmental Service
We train corpsmembers to protect and maintain the urban environment throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Participants learn about conservation and preservation, including restoration of watersheds, parks, open spaces, natural habitats, and ecosystems.
Advocacy
SGVCC has given thousands of underserved, low-income young adults the opportunity to improve themselves while improving their own community. While at the SGVCC, corpsmembers are paired up with mentors that serve as advocates that help guide and navigate through life’s challenges.
Support
We also provide service-learning opportunities as well as teach work ethic, teamwork, and essential life skills, through mentoring and leadership training.
We encourage healthy life choices through positive role-modeling and a variety of personal development education, including conflict resolution, substance abuse prevention, and responsible driving education. Lastly, we promote economic self-sufficiency through career assessment, employment development, and job placement and follow-up services.

How We Transform Lives
Bridge to a better life
San Gabriel Conservation Corps serves as a bridge to a better life for young adults ages 18-25.
We provide paid job training, support services, and a second chance to earn a high school diploma, while simultaneously offering a variety of professional services to the San Gabriel community.
Teach skills for life
Our Corpsmembers gain job skills through environmental, construction, recycling, and other community projects.
Whether improving a park, working in the San Gabriel Valley area, removing graffiti, or rehabilitating low-income homes, our Corpsmembers improve themselves while improving our region.
Mentors that care
SGVCC is a supportive program that helps youth and young adults develop the motivation, self-confidence, work skills, and education needed to succeed in life.
Guided by adult leaders, who serve as mentors, role models, technical trainers, and supervisors, SGVCC participants work in crews of 5-10 to rebuild or revitalize blighted areas in their communities, and natural environments.
Hear for yourself
Over the years, we have given thousands of underserved, youth and young adults the opportunity to improve themselves while improving their own community.
